Shash Dine' Ecoretreat offers four accommodation types: a traditional Navajo hogan, a restored sheep wagon, a bell tent, and the Kyoob cabin. The hogan was built by the host's grandfather and features a wood-burning stove and cots with comfortable bedding. The sheep wagon and bell tents include king-size or queen beds, solar lamps, and warm quilts. All accommodations are off-grid with no electricity or running water, but guests have access to clean solar showers and modern outhouses that are maintained daily.

Dining & Breakfast

A continental breakfast is delivered each morning, including Navajo tea, cowboy coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt, and breakfast bars. Guests can pre-order dinner prepared by a local Navajo chef, such as Navajo tacos served around the communal fire. The breakfast spread is set up near the outdoor fireplace, where guests can chat with other travelers and the hosts. No restaurant or in-room dining is available, but the simple meals are part of the authentic experience.

Stargazing is the main attraction: the property sits under a dark sky with a clear view of the Milky Way and shooting stars. A hiking trail on the property leads to a ridge with panoramic views of Marble Canyon, Lake Powell, and Horseshoe Bend. Guests can also join walking tours, bike tours, themed dinner nights, and cultural classes about Navajo traditions. Board games and puzzles are available for quiet evenings around the outdoor fireplace.

Shash Dine Eco Retreat is located 21 km from Page Municipal Airport and 31 km from Antelope Canyon. The retreat is 15 minutes from Horseshoe Bend and Lake Powell, making it a convenient base for day trips. The property is on a private, working sheep ranch on the Navajo Nation, offering a secluded setting away from city lights. A vehicle with decent ride height is recommended for the unpaved access road.

Family & Cultural Immersion

Children are welcome in family rooms and larger tents that accommodate up to four people. The hosts, Baya and Paul, share Navajo culture through stories, traditional breakfasts, and guided tours of the land. Guests can observe Navajo-Churro sheep and their herding dogs, and learn about the history of the hogan and the ranch. The outdoor common area with a fire pit encourages group interaction and storytelling under the stars.
